In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in domestic and international interest in "nature-positive," which aims to halt biodiversity loss and put nature on a recovery trajectory.
Beyond simply reducing environmental impact, the approach of actively regenerating the natural environment through human activities and tourism is becoming an important theme in future regional development and sustainable societies.
In July 2026, the "Global Nature Positive Summit 2026" was held in Kumamoto. This summit marked an important milestone in the international promotion of nature positivity, with the announcement of the "Kumamoto Declaration," an action guideline that companies and local governments are endorsing towards biodiversity recovery by 2030.
During the summit, the initiatives of the "Aso Green Stock," a public interest incorporated foundation that has protected and restored the vast grassland landscape and ecosystem of Aso, which has a history of over a thousand years, and excursions to experience the area were held, attracting significant attention.
In this co-hosted webinar, we will invite Mr. Masui from Green Stock, who is leading grassland restoration in Aso. He will report on the passion of the summit and the on-site excursion, and share his insights and experiences cultivated over many years in grassland restoration.
From simply enjoying nature, to "regenerative tourism" (environmentally restorative tourism) that enriches and regenerates the natural environment and local communities through travel.
From the leading example of revitalizing Aso's grasslands, we will consider the future "rich relationship between regions and travel" together with all participants.
